Dogs are probably known as being the best friend of man because they never tell what they see and hear. However, they are capable of facial expressions which can betray more than a lengthy conversation. Let's take a moment to consider what the dogs think about routine home maintenance and repairs.

Hide the paint brush. Window trim and indoor woodwork are a couple of areas which need to be touched up with a good quality paint. However, anything that has fur is fair game to chase, or play with, and a paint brush can tickle whiskers as well as spread paint. The moment a dog sinks its teeth into the moist gooey product the look on their face is that of suddenly eating a slimy worm that simply won't get out of their mouth.

Garden hoses can be fun to play with. In most cases, it is easier to bring the garden hose to the project than the other way around. Just about the time you get going, with the hose dragging behind you, the dog decides it must be a snake and lounges after it. Suddenly the human is laying flat on their back because they weren't expecting this abrupt change in venue.

Raking leaves kicks up a dust and leaves a nice place to roll in the dirt. Soft tine rakes do a good job of gathering up the leaves, and remnants of weeds that have just been pulled. They also make interesting noises that attract canine attentions. The flying leaves make great sport for chasing after, and a dirty coat a good reason for a nice cool bath, after helping out with garden chores.

Cleaning the gutters means retrieving old toys and creating new ones. Some dogs are very talented and able to toss their toys high into the air, and some children are not quite ready for the major leagues as pitchers. When the dog's toys end up on the roof the doggie looks at them as if the child should retrieve the toy. As long as there is a reason to climb up there the human may as well clean out the gutters, too.

House dogs like air conditioning systems. Laying across an air vent is the faster way for dogs to get cooled down, but when the unit is not working they lay there looking at their master as if it is surely the end of the world. It is not enough that the humans are miserable, too, the doggie gets up and moves beside the phone as a clue to help the owner get the idea to call for a service repairman.
