We cannot deny the importance of the air conditioning in our daily life. There are many inventions made for human comfort and one of them is air conditioning. We enjoy our room's cool temperature when sun rays are harsh outside. Air conditioning is not less than a blessing for those people who live in a region where temperature is high as compared to other regions. It is always advised to the people in that region by the doctors to drink more water, as dehydration can cause the death. Now days human are capable to control the temperature for their rooms according to their desire.
If you have air conditioning installed in your premises, then you can set room temperature at which your body feels more relaxed. The idea of the air conditioning came in to human minds when the heat started nuisance them with its ruthlessness. It almost started in second century when Chinese Inventors invented the cooling system for Chinese imperial palace. There were different models, different names and ways of manufacturing the air conditioners, developed during these years. In 17th century it was also demonstrated as "Turning Summer into winter".
In 1820 British scientists brought up the idea that by compressing the liquefied ammonia can chill the air when liquefied ammonia was allowed to evaporate. It was understood by the people living in 18th century that the carrier air conditioning is their highest priority. In 1830 an American physician in Apalachicola also invented a machine for cooling hospital rooms. This machine was specially designed to cool down the rooms for the patients who are suffering from yellow fever and malaria. This was the first attempt to make an air conditioner.
The first electric air conditioner that was similar to the air conditioning units that we use in these days was invented in 1902 by Willis Havilland Carrier. The machine was called "Apparatus for Treating Air" and was installed in Sachkett-Wilhelms Lithographing and Publishing Co. The machine had the ability to lower the humidity up to 55% and cool the air. This machine really worked and was installed in many hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. This machine was also installed in many other industries such as textile, paint and mortaring. Carrier air conditioning was getting famous, but it was very expensive, huge in the size and was very dangerous because this machine was using ammonia as coolant.
Ammonia is toxic and can cause death in few second. This brought Carrier back to the drawing board, in 1922 he made some major changes to make it safer and more efficient, he replaced ammonia with benign coolant with a central compressor to reduce the size. In 1925 Carrier air conditioning was installed in movie-theaters this cause great progression in air conditioning. By the end of 1930 many government building including The United State House of Representative were air conditioned. The window units came after the Second World War they also become very famous as in 1953 about 1,045,000 were sold. Carrier's Air conditioner had opened the new doors to the air conditioning world.
